Melanie Canterberry is a Senior Research Consultant with RTI Health Advance.
Melanie is an experienced researcher with a background in clinical academic research, applied health services research and program evaluation. She designs and leads studies with a goal of providing insights to better understand and improve health and well-being for all. Melanie works with partners to identify and answer research questions utilizing observational and interventional research methodology with a variety of data sources, including electronic health records, claims, patient reported data, and area-level information. Her recent work has highlighted the role of social risk and patient social needs in explaining healthcare utilization and quality achievement.
Melanie joined Health Advance from Humana Healthcare Research where she was a senior consultant and research scientist on the Payment, Policy and Care Delivery Team. There she led studies to understand the role of social risk and payment policies on health outcomes. Prior to that, Melanie was the lead analyst for Health Services Research and a multi-site clinical research network at the Louisiana Public Health Institute. She has numerous peer-reviewed publications.
Melanie has a PhD in social psychology from the University of Kansas. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship in clinical addiction neuroscience at the Medical University of South Carolina as a NIH National Research Service Award recipient.
