Health Technology Assessment for the State of Washington Health Care Authority

How to think strategically about technology use

By Leila Kahwati

State purchasing programs require evidence to inform their decision-making. RTI conducted an assessment for the state of Washington to determine which technologies should be included in and covered under the evidence-based purchasing program for the State of Washington Health Care Authority. We conducted the assessment by applying internationally recognized systematic review standards across a broad range of topics, including Medicaid, Workers Compensation, Department of Corrections, State Employee Health Plans, and others.

As a result of our efforts, the state now uses this evidence-based assessment of technologies to inform their health care purchasing and coverage decisions, helping them make smarter buying decisions for the state of Washington.
